House for Octopi

The experimental initiative, which will be developed over several years, aims to provide octopi with new refuges through the permanent installation on the seabed of artificial burrows built from eco-sustainable materials, such as terracotta.

The shelter designed for the project consists of an earthenware amphora, stabilized by a heavy support. This will make the artifact firmly in place on the seabed, going to provide excellent shelter for octopuses.

By remaining in the sea for years, the artifact will become covered with all the typical organisms of the seabed and, in addition to shelter, it can also become a spawning site.

For anyone who wants to know more about the project, an interactive product has been produced
